ChartCheck ("we", "the app") is an iOS app that analyzes screenshots and photos of trading charts and returns educational technical analysis tailored to how you trade. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights.
ChartCheck does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.
Your data — your trading profile (the answers you give during setup, such as your experience level, the markets you trade, your style, and the indicators you use), your analysis history, the chart images you analyzed, and your settings — is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a database of your activity. Your data never leaves your device except as described below (AI chart analysis, purchase verification, anonymous analytics, and advertising attribution).
ChartCheck requests camera access only if you choose to photograph a chart on another screen. Photo library access uses Apple's system photo picker, which lets you select a single image without giving the app access to your library. Images you choose are saved locally with the analysis so you can revisit them in History.
When you submit a chart, the image and your trading profile (never your name or any contact details) are sent to our backend service for analysis. The backend uses Google Gemini to read the chart and generate the analysis. After processing:
To protect our service from abuse, ChartCheck uses Apple's App Attest, which lets our backend confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app on a genuine Apple device. App Attest does not identify you personally and does not track you across apps.
ChartCheck requires an auto-renewable subscription. All purchases and billing are handled entirely through Apple's App Store; we do not collect or store any payment information. Subscription status is verified through RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and your entitlement status; no name, email address, phone number, or payment details are shared by ChartCheck. ChartCheck does not display any ads and does not show you third-party advertising while you use it. We may run ads for ChartCheck on other platforms to reach new users, and we measure how those ads perform as described below.
We may run ads for ChartCheck on other platforms, including Apple Search Ads, TikTok, and Meta. For Apple Search Ads campaigns we use Apple's AdServices attribution, which does not identify you across other companies' apps or websites. To measure ads on other platforms we use AppsFlyer, a mobile measurement partner. At the end of setup the app asks for App Tracking Transparency permission. If you allow tracking, AppsFlyer uses your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) to attribute your install to the ad you came from. If you decline, no advertising identifier is used and installs are measured only through Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork. You can change this choice at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Install and purchase events may be shared with these advertising partners solely to measure the performance of our own ads. We do not sell your data.
ChartCheck uses PostHog to record anonymous in-app events, such as which screens are viewed and whether an analysis completes. These events are tied to a random device identifier, never to your name, email address, or any other contact details, and are used only to understand how the app is used and to improve it.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data with third parties only as described above: with Google Gemini for AI chart analysis, with RevenueCat for subscription management, with PostHog for anonymous analytics, and with AppsFlyer and Apple's advertising measurement services solely to measure the performance of our own ads.
ChartCheck is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Since your data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting individual analyses from History or by deleting the app. Anonymous records held by our service providers (RevenueCat, AppsFlyer, PostHog) are retained in accordance with each provider's data retention policy.
ChartCheck is for informational and educational purposes only and does not provide financial or investment advice. Nothing in the app is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or asset.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
